Serene's sizing chart has more columns than a typical prefilled gel chart. Once you know what they represent, the extra information becomes helpful.
The surgeon selects and fills the implant according to the manufacturer's instructions. The chart helps you understand that plan.
Size labels and volume measurements
Keep these chart terms separate:
Nominal implant size: the label used to identify the device size.
Empty implant volume: volume contributed by the device material.
Inner and outer saline: the specified compartment fill information.
Total implant volume: the combined volume at the permitted fill.
The outer compartment has a defined range. It isn't a freely adjustable amount outside the labeling.
Ask which of these numbers is being quoted whenever you compare a surgical record, a gallery case, or a consultation note.
Reference sizing table
The following dimensions appear in the manufacturer chart and the instructions for use available for this draft.

| Nominal size | Permitted total volume | Base diameter at min → max fill | Projection at min → max fill |
|---|---|---|---|
| 210cc | 210 to 235cc | 10.1 → 10.0cm | 3.5 → 4.3cm |

Why the base measurement can get smaller
The table can look surprising because the listed base diameter decreases slightly as permitted fill increases.
Read those values in relation to the fill endpoints. They describe the device at minimum and maximum fill, rather than two different patients' breast widths.
The associated projection increases. Together, the values describe a change in the filled device's geometry.
Don't reverse the base values into ascending order. Doing that would disconnect the measurement from the corresponding fill.
A worked example using the 335cc device
The manufacturer chart lists these components:
| Component | Listed volume |
|---|---|
| Empty device material | 52cc |
| Inner compartment saline | 188cc |
| Outer compartment saline | 95 to 135cc |
At the minimum listed fill, 52 + 188 + 95 = 335cc total.
At the maximum listed fill, 52 + 188 + 135 = 375cc total.
The amount of saline added is therefore 283cc to 323cc in this example. The total implant volume is 335cc to 375cc.
That distinction explains why two numbers in a record may both be correct while describing different things.
How profile is described
The standalone chart describes moderate profile at minimum fill and full profile at maximum fill.
Those are device-specific descriptions. They shouldn't be treated as identical to another brand's profile categories.
Ask your surgeon for the planned fill and the dimensions associated with it. A nominal device size alone doesn't identify the final filled geometry.
Compare Serene with a gel device
Start by identifying the final total volume, width, and projection for the Serene plan.
Then compare the actual gel device's listed dimensions. Avoid comparing saline added with the gel device's total stated volume as though they were the same measurement.
The difference may involve fill, internal structure, shape, and dimensions simultaneously. Your surgeon can help separate those variables.
What to record for each breast
Ask for the nominal device size, final inner and outer fill, total volume, model identifier, and side.
Also record the proposed placement and any additional procedure.
If the two breasts need different plans, keep separate left and right entries. An accurate final record is especially useful when future care occurs at a different practice.
Use the chart to understand the recommendation
The table can't assess your tissue coverage, skin, breast position, or suitability for a particular device.
It can help you ask, “Why this shell size?” “Why this permitted fill?” and “What would the next option change?”
That is the practical value of learning the chart. You can follow the recommendation and understand the numbers attached to the result you're planning.
